Monica Pourrat, MD, MPH,Diplom.ABOM

Dr. Monica Pourrat, awarded as Top Pediatrician in the area of Rockville, was born in Santiago, Chile, where she studied medicine at the Catholic University of Chile, graduating with honors. Before moving to the United States, she gained four years of experience working in primary care and pediatrics in Santiago, Chile. In the U.S., she completed her Pediatrics residency in the Children’s National Medical Center/Howard University Hospital program in Washington, D.C., graduating in 2004. She completed a fellowship in General Academic Pediatrics/Pediatric Environmental Health at Children’s in 2006, along with a Masters in Public Health from George Washington University, which she received with honors. Since shortly after her graduation, she worked for Children’s Hospital at the Children’s Health Center-Adams Morgan, providing services for the predominantly Spanish-speaking community. She is a general pediatrician focusing on primary care, behavioral and developmental services, nutrition, and obesity management. Dr. Pourrat is board certified by The American Board of Pediatrics, a diplomate of The American Board of Obesity Medicine, and approved in Functional Medicine and Clinical Homeopathy by CEDH. She is a member of the Obesity Medical Association. Dr. Pourrat loves to teach medical students and physician assistants and is an assistant professor at The George Washington University School of Medicine. She has been honored by the GWU Department of Physician Assistant Studies for her dedication and excellence in teaching. Dr. Pourrat and her husband have hosted and sponsored Latin American students that studied at Montgomery College. She enjoys painting, gardening, learning about natural healing with herbs, and creating her natural beauty products. Dr. Pourrat and her husband have been active members of Saint Raphael’s Catholic Church in Rockville, MD,  since 2001, primarily with the Latino community. She speaks English, Spanish and Portuguese.
